Give via your IRA with a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)
If you are 70-1/2 years of age or older, the Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is now a permanent way to reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions.
- For people who are at least 72, QCDs count toward the IRA owner’s required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year!
- Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to Wisconsin Wetlands Association.
- Your gift can be cash or stock in any amount up to $100,000. If you are gifting cash, direct your IRA administrator to make your gift to:
Wisconsin Wetlands Association, Inc
214 N Hamilton St, Suite 201
Madison, WI 53703
Federal Tax ID # 39-1852601
Please make sure that your administrator encloses a letter along with your check stating your name with a note that the gift is a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA. This information can also be stated in the memo line of your check.
Your IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution gift can satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) in whole or in part. Although it avoids income tax on that amount of your RMD, it does not qualify for a further charitable tax deduction. Learn more on QCD page of the Internal Revenue Service’s website.
Note: Employer-sponsored retirement plans, such as SEP IRAs, SIMPLE IRAs, 401(k)s, and 403(b)s, are generally not eligible for the IRA Charitable Rollover. Some states may determine that IRA Charitable Rollover gifts are includable as income for state and local tax purposes.
Wisconsin Wetlands Association does not provide legal or tax advice. Please consult your own legal and tax advisors in connection with gift and planning matters.
