Our wetland conservation partners need your help encouraging Wisconsin’s congressional delegation to support funding for the North American Wetlands Conservation Act (NAWCA). They are asking our elected officials to sign on to “Dear Colleague” letters of support that are currently being circulated in both the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate.

NAWCA wetland restoration projects conserve North America’s waterfowl, fish and wildlife resources while producing a variety of other environmental and economic benefits. Every federal dollar provided by NAWCA must be matched by at least one dollar from non-federal sources, but the program is so effective that federal NAWCA funds are usually doubled or tripled at the local level.

Our Wisconsin partners, including Ducks Unlimited, Wisconsin Waterfowl Association, Wisconsin DNR and others, have been incredibly successful securing NAWCA funding to restore wetlands in Wisconsin. They’ve secured more than $36 million in NAWCA funding and raised an additional $112 million for work to restore nearly 175,000 acres of wetlands (see more WI details here).

We ask that you contact your Representative and Senators and urge them to support NAWCA funding in their appropriations requests for FY2020.

If you prefer to communicate with your representative(s) directly, you can find their contact information here:
Ask them to sign on to the “Dear Colleague” letters supporting NAWCA funding before April 1st.

As always, thank you for your support of wetlands conservation.
