Thank you to all of our members who shared your thoughts and ideas with Wisconsin Wetlands Association (WWA) through our May stakeholder survey. The responses we received validated our understanding that our members, supporters, and partners value the work we do and the role we play in the broader conservation community—and for that, we are so very grateful.

Who provided input? (Respondents could select all answers that applied to them)

  • 88% of respondents are WWA members
  • 33% attend the annual Wetland Science Conference
  • 16% collaborate with WWA on projects and/or programs

“WWA brings people together to achieve way more than what could be accomplished alone.”

“I continue to be impressed with virtually everything that WWA does—it’s thoughtful, inspired, and done with attention to detail.”

Respondents ranged from newcomers who have been engaged for one year or less to folks who have been engaged with WWA for more than 20 years. The respondents also included concerned citizens, landowners, conservation volunteers, hunters and anglers, farmers, scientists, wetland and conservation professionals, educators, and government staff and officials. We’re so appreciative to have people from so many perspectives and backgrounds give us not only their feedback but also their support for wetlands. Achieving real change on our landscapes will require all of us working together.

What did you tell us?

  • WWA keeps you informed about wetland issues and helps you learn about wetlands and how to care for them.
  • You think WWA is effective in our current program work.
  • You identified our areas of strength as outreach and education, board and staff, communications, policy and legislative programs, and fostering member engagement and the wetland community.
  • 35% of you own wetlands.
  • You find information that interests you in our communications (newsletter, emails, etc.).
  • You think we put out high-quality communications.
  • You think we need greater visibility and name recognition, more members, more staff, and more resources to carry out our mission.
  • 86% of you say you’d recommend WWA to your network of family, friends, and colleagues (thank you!!).

WWA staff and board spent the summer engaging in strategic planning discussions, applying the input we received from you to help us determine our priorities for the next five years. We’ll be sharing the results of these efforts with you soon.
